Enquiries about work
Technical questions, feasibility work, prototypes and R&D engineering. Write to research@volunos.uk. We reply within two working days — including when the answer is that the question is outside what we can usefully help with, or that you do not need a lab for it.
Please do not send confidential material in a first email. If the question cannot be described without it, say so and we will agree confidentiality terms and a secure route before anything sensitive moves.
Data
Data protection and privacy requests
Requests to exercise rights under the UK GDPR — access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection — and any question about how we handle personal data go to the same address, marked Data protection request. We acknowledge promptly and respond within one month of receipt, as the legislation requires, and will tell you if an extension applies.
Where we hold personal data as a processor on a client's behalf, we will refer the request to that client as controller and assist them, rather than acting on it ourselves. This is explained in the privacy notice.
Legal
Formal notices and registered office
Volunos Labs Ltd, registered in Northern Ireland, company number NI741243. Registered office: City East, 72 Newtownards Road, Belfast, Northern Ireland, BT4 1GW.
Formal notices under a contract should be sent as that contract requires. Where it does not specify, send them to the registered office and copy research@volunos.uk.
Complaints
If something has gone wrong
Send a description to research@volunos.uk marked Complaint. We acknowledge within five working days and give a substantive response within twenty working days, or explain why more time is needed.
On data protection matters you may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF, telephone 0303 123 1113, ico.org.uk. We would prefer the chance to put it right first, but that is your right and not conditional on approaching us.
What a useful first message contains
There is no form on this site, which means nothing is lost to a field we forgot to include. A paragraph is enough. The four things that let us answer properly are:
- The question. What are you trying to find out — phrased as a question, not as a solution.
- What you have tried. Including approaches that failed, which are often the most informative part.
- What would change. What decision or plan depends on the answer, and by when.
- Constraints. Hardware, data availability, regulatory limits, or anything that rules an approach out before we start.
Illustrative example
The following is an illustrative example written by us to show the shape of a useful enquiry. It is not a real message from a real organisation.
That is enough for us to say whether it is a feasibility study, whether it needs a prototype, roughly how long it would take, and whether we are the right people at all.
What happens next
A reply within two working days, from a person. If the question is one we can help with, we will propose a short framing conversation — typically an hour — whose only purpose is to get the question written down without ambiguity and to agree what evidence would settle it. That conversation is not chargeable and does not commit you to anything.
If it is not work for us, we will say so in the reply and, where we can, point you at the kind of firm that would do it better. We do not keep a mailing list, do not follow up repeatedly, and do not pass enquiry details to anyone else. How we handle what you send is set out in the privacy notice.
